From a sous chef to professional bra fitters, Queen Elizabeth was on a hiring spree last year. And this year is no different. Just last month, the Queen was on the hunt for a social media manager (or, more specifically, a Digital Communications Officer), and now the best position of them all has opened up: party planner.
The Events Coordinator position, which opened this month, is a pretty sweet gig. Working at Buckingham Palace, the lucky candidate will help organize and plan a range of royal events throughout the year, from garden parties to State occasions.

Today The Queen hosted a reception to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Investiture of The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and The Princess Royal also attended the reception hosted by The Queen. Guests included representatives from charities working in Wales that The Prince supports. The Queen formally invested The Prince of Wales with the title 50 years ago. “You’ll be at the heart of our activities working alongside our operational teams on the day to ensure every event is delivered to the highest standard,” the job description states.
With a long list of responsibilities, this position isn’t just a means to rub elbows with the royal family. The Events Coordinator will also handle all administration behind the events, coordinate travel and update the website, among other less-than-glamorous duties.
“Keeping up with a busy schedule will be critical. The standards you’ll aim for will provide the biggest challenge, and the greatest reward,” the job posting states.
The Queen is looking for someone not only with previous administrative experience and knowledge of planning varied professional events, but also a supremely organized quick-thinker driven by deadlines. Bonus points if you have any knowledge of the Offices of State, the church and the military.
According to Business Insider, whoever is offered the job will have to keep their lips sealed, though.
“Neither us nor the candidates can disclose who they are working for to third parties,” Philippa Smith, managing director of Silver Swan Recruitment Agency, tells Business Insider. “There is also a ban on social media — as in nothing whatsoever about their role, the family, the location or any other details can be posted online.”
Salary starts at £27,000 per year, or just over $34,000, which seems pretty low considering a) how stressful this job seems and b) you’re working for the motherf***ing Queen. But hey, it’ll look good on your resume, right? Plus, the position also includes a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days of holiday per year.
Ready to apply? Better hurry, because the job closes tomorrow, June 7.
