Looking to pamper your little ones? You’re in luck. While these hotels are sure to lure those seeking luxury and relaxation, they also roll out the red carpet for the kiddos. With kids’ menus, special programs, surprises, scavenger hunts, games and activities, these posh hotels have all found a unique way to make children feel extra special during their stay. Being a travel journalist, I’ve had the opportunity to check out a lot these places in person. Here are a mix of favorites and ones I’ve longed to visit.

1. Four Seasons Boston

This gorgeous New England hotel makes kids feel like celebrities the moment they walk in the door. Children are greeted by the front-desk staff and offered a special gift and a scavenger hunt game. The place is situated perfectly for families to explore downtown, less than a mile from the Boston Children’s Museum and across the street from Boston Common, the oldest public park in the U.S.

Ask about the Kids’ Welcome Package upgrade when booking your room. If it’s available, here are some of the perks:

  • Welcome gift from the Four Seasons Toy Wagon
  • Special camping-themed welcome amenity
  • Luxurious play tent for kids in your room
  • Sunglasses to wear for adventures throughout the day
  • “Gone Glamping” pillow to take home (one pillow per guest room)
  • Opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt
  • Opportunity to participate in a hands-on cookiemaking class on Saturdays at 4 p.m. (subject to availability; please inquire at check-in)
  • Luxurious accommodations

2. Acqualina Resort & Spa on the Beach, Sunny Isles, Florida

Rated number one family resort in Andrew Harper’s 2015 Readers’ Choice Awards, this posh place with award-winning customer service is a top pick. Kids can sign up for the hotel’s AcquaMarine program to become campers and have fun while learning and discovering a new appreciation, love and respect for the sea through hands-on activities.

Ask about: Planned activities for children during your stay. Here’s what is typically offered:

Kid’s Pizza Making Classes: Junior Guests age 5 to 12 will make pizzas from scratch, including rolling the dough, adding the sauce, cheese and toppings and watching them bake in the pizza oven – all taught by one of the hotel chefs! Participants get to take home an authentic chef’s hat.

Arts & Crafts: Sessions are available during special holiday periods.

Private Lessons: Sessions are available for swimming and other sports. Contact the concierge to set up date, time and price.

Holidays & Special Happenings: During select times of the year, Acqualina offers a turtle-hatching expedition for the whole family, as well as multigenerational events for grandparents, parents and children. In addition, during holiday periods, other special children’s activities are organized, such as outdoor games and scrapbooking.

The Multigenerational Family App: This smartphone app simplifies the booking process by making dinner reservations, offering an expert list of featured recommendations and excursions and determining the ideal room arrangements for you and your family, including the ability to reserve an entire floor in specific seasons.

3. Wequassett Resort and Golf Club, Cape Cod, Massachusetts

The resort, nestled on Cape Cod, was recently awarded five stars from Forbes Travel Guide. While the New England seaside spot is charming, visitors may be surprised to learn how much the upscale resort caters to the little ones as much as grown-ups.

Ask about the Children’s Center, where there is typically a full itinerary of fun activities in the summer season:

  • Playground
  • Dive-in movie
  • Family fun night
  • Teen gaming night
  • Tennis lessons
  • Swimming lessons
  • Sailing lessons

4. The Breakers, Palm Beach, Florida

The Atlantic coastline of Florida brings a host of family fun, and the Breakers, a luxury Palm Beach resort, is an ideal family vacation. Ask about Camp Breakers, where kids 3-12 can enjoy supervised activities while Mom and Dad enjoy a night out. Also, pick up the resort activities itinerary so you don’t miss out on all the place has to offer.
