Packing for a cold-weather trip means boots and bulky sweaters, but that doesn’t have to mean you’ll need three suitcases to contain all your outfit essentials.
Carefully selecting outfits and accessories you can mix and match throughout the week means less packing for you, and a lighter load when it’s time to haul your suitcases to your destination. Believe it or not, you can actually fit the whole week’s worth of clothes in your carry on. Grab a stylish and roomy bag, like Vera Bradley’s Miller Travel Bag in Zebra, and you’ll be on your way — with a considerably lighter load.
Basic black leggings and a comfy pair of knee-high boots serve as the base of this outfit, and a few other looks for the week.
Swap out the long-sleeved T-shirt and heavy wrap for a warm and cozy cable-knit sweater. Add some boot socks to break up the black on the bottom.
Take a break from all that black and grab a pair of skinny jeans, worn with a white cardigan and brown ankle booties.
Black is back, but this time with jeans instead of leggings. Add some interest to this black-and-white look with a striped top.
This bright blue baggy sweater is both gorgeous and comfy. Dress it up by adding the scarf from day one of your trip.
Go back to neutral tones on day six with a green sweater, jeans and your brown accessories. Cream-colored boot socks soften the look and keep you warm.
Break out those black leggings one more time to stay comfy on your last day of vacation. Pair them with a comfy but stylish sweater and your brown boots and bag. The flecks of brown in the boot socks help tie this look together.
See how easily you get a whole week’s worth of outfits from a small number of items? Following our tips, you’ll just need:
- 1 pair of jeans
- 1 pair black of leggings
- 2 light tops
- 5 sweaters
- 2 pairs of boots
- 2 pairs of boot socks
- 2 purses
- 2 scarves
And remember, you’ll be wearing some of these items on the first day of your trip, meaning you have even fewer items to pack.
