It could have ended badly when a D.C. police officer went to break up a confrontation between two groups of teens. There could have been tickets issued, people taken to jail or even violence. Instead there was an epic dance-off.

In one of the best moves ever (with some of the best moves), the officer, who wishes to remain anonymous as of now, accepted a challenge from 17-year-old Aaliyah Taylor. The terms: If the girl won, she and her friends could stay. If the cop won, they'd leave peacefully. The song: Silento's "Watch Me" ("Whip/Nae Nae"). Watch what went down when the two got down.

Brilliant, right? Not just those dance moves — which are totally badass — but the police officer's entire approach. Rather than resorting to threats or aggression, she met these teens on their level and solved the problem brilliantly. Not every encounter can be resolved in such a manner, of course, but it's inspiring to see after we've seen too many examples in which confrontations with police go horribly wrong. A little humor, understanding and cooperation go a long way on all sides.
