When a glass is shattered, most of us tend to run for cover from the flying shards, but this very process has now inspired the name for a new beauty trend.
The trend started in Seoul, South Korea, by beauty guru Eunkyung Park, who owns Unistella Salon, Refinery 29 reports.
But before you start dropping glass on purpose just so you can get the joy of gluing the fragments to your nails, the look is actually not made from glass. Rather, thin pieces of cellophane are glued and perfectly arranged on your nail to mimic the opalescent shell of an abalone (a type of sea snail with an amazingly beautiful shell).
Seriously, move over, paint splatter nails, glitter polish and boring patterned nail stickers. This is the most edgy nail trend we have seen in a long time — and we clearly aren’t the only ones who are loving the look.
From pearly whites to bright statement colours, when it comes to the shattered glass trend, there is a look to suit every preference.
Park has already gained over 50,000 followers on her Instagram page (and that number is bound to be on the rise), which is really not surprising, because these black shattered glass nails are stunning.
If you don’t like the thought of wearing all shattered glass nails, then you can mix it up with negative space manicures or solid polish.
There is definitely nothing boring about this nail trend.
