3 Fun ways to make your own headband

Trendy summer style doesn’t have to come from the store. Check out these easy ideas to whip together your own coordinating headbands for all of your favorite summer outfits.

Sparkle lace headband

  • Sparkle lace trim
  • 1/2-inch elastic
  • Fabric adhesive
  • Scissors

  1. Hold the piece of sparkle lace trim over your head where a headband would normally lie. Cut the lace trim to that length.
  2. Cut a 2-inch-length piece of 1/2-inch elastic.
  3. Use fabric glue to attach the elastic to the 2 ends of the lace trim.
  4. Let the fabric glue dry completely, then your new headband is ready to wear.

DIY Jersey headband

Braided jersey headband

  • Jersey knit fabric
  • Plastic headband
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Hot glue

  1. Cut a long strip out of the jersey knit fabric (an old T-shirt can even work well for this).
  2. Heat up the hot glue gun, and glue 1 end of the fabric strip to 1 end of the plastic headband.
  3. Wrap the fabric around the plastic headband so that it is completely covered, and glue it in place to the other side of the headband.
  4. Cut 3 strips of fabric that are approximately 1-inch wide and twice as long as the plastic headband.
  5. Tape the end of the 3 strands to the table, then braid the 3 strands together.
  6. Glue the braid to the top of the headband, trimming away any excess.
