Strip club posts employment ads that target high school graduates

With the cost of college education on the rise, is it really shocking for those in the erotic entertainment industry to recruit young adults?

Many high school graduates are faced with important decisions once their senior year is over — that include college and associated costs. Some will be fortunate to earn scholarships and grants, while others will look to student loans and employment opportunities to pay their way.

If you happen to be in the market for a part-time job, here’s one employer who hopes to grab your attention.

Little Darlings is a local Vegas destination for exotic dancing, explains KVVU-TV FOX 5. Manager Rick Marzullo has been posting job advertisements on his company’s marquee that specifically target female high school graduates.

“We all know the economy isn’t that great, [and] it’s hard to find jobs sometimes,” said Marzullo. “This is an open door for young women 18 years old and up to come and make some good money.”

There appear to be two ads that hope to persuade recent high school graduates to apply. One in particular features a woman in a revealing school uniform, carrying books next to a sign that reads, “Now auditioning the class of 2015.” The other simply states, “Pay your way through college.”

Some residents of Las Vegas aren’t too shocked by the ads, while others have expressed concern. “You could completely change the route of a woman’s life, of a woman who’s trying to progress and go to college and make something of herself,” said Kayla Garninger.

It’s no secret how much potential income exotic dancers can make, but does this mean it’s a good option for young women? Rick Marzullo believes many can earn as much as $1,000 in a single night. As amazing as the paycheck would be, one can certainly argue the difference between working a traditional part-time job and one that requires you to show off your body and perform suggestive acts for larger tips.

My younger sister is in college, and I cannot imagine her stripping as a way to pay her bills. Yes, college is expensive, but that doesn’t mean she should exploit herself to make it affordable. Even though the payout is higher than most, in the end, I believe you ultimately sell yourself short.

Sure, an 18-year-old is an adult in the eyes of the law, but does that mean they have the maturity or experience to make certain life decisions? Stripping is not the same as working at a fast-food restaurant. Then again, others believe what happens between consenting adults is their business. “I feel if that’s what they want to do, then they have a right to,” adds Julian Loiza.
