7 Reasons the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix should be on your bucket list

High-octane fun is coming to Melbourne when the 2015 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix gets underway for four big days from March 12. Before you roll your eyes and groan at the thought of motorsport, there’s more to the Grand Prix than burning rubber and the smell of engine oil. Tickets sell out fast, so here are eight reasons why you won’t want to miss out.

1. Nico Hülkenberg

This German 2009 GP2 Series champion is reason enough to make sure you’ve got a four-day pass to the track. Chances are if you hang out trackside, you’re likely to bump into him.

2. The exclusive Renault Torque Bar After Party

Long after the final car has crossed the finish line, partygoers can continue to celebrate at an exclusive event hosted at one of Melbourne’s hottest nightspots, Ms Collins. The king of house music, globally renowned DJ Carl Cox, will headline the event.

3. Bumping shoulders with celebrities
Along with A-list Australian celebrities, you’re likely to cross paths with big Hollywood names. Over the past couple of years, Michelle Rodriguez, John Travolta and Nicolas Cage have been just some of the stars spotted at the event.

4. Learning new dance moves

There will be plenty of homegrown music to groove away to, with bands like Johnny Wonderpants and Australian legend, Daryl Braithwaite, set to perform.

5. The royal treatment

Treat yourself to exclusive access to the Formula One Paddock Club premium suites. This will entitle you to all you can eat at the buffet and access to the VIP lounge, pamper room, rooftop viewing and Pit Lane, all while being waited on hand and foot. A three-day pass will cost $4,640.

6. Amazing entertainment

The Melbourne Grand Prix is more than just racing; there’s plenty of entertainment for the entire family. Australian illusionist, Cosentino, will blow your mind with unbelievable stage performances, while there will also be street art, GP Stuntmania and a dedicated area with activities to keep your kids occupied.

7. Awesome merchandise
