Winter weekend getaways in Australia

Located only 25 minutes drive from the centre of town, the Adelaide Hills offers a wonderfully relaxing holiday destination where you can essentially “choose your own adventure”.

Adelaide Hills not only boasts some of Australia’s most beautiful and picturesque scenery, but it’s also one of the oldest wine growing regions in the country. As well as sampling from the vineyards, you can enjoy the numerous walking and cycling trails, restaurants, attractions and B&Bs.

Alternatively, you may want to visit the Barossa Valley, Australia’s most well known wine growing region, where roughly fifty wineries currently operate. You may just recognise some of the locals: Jacobs Creek, Penfolds, St Hallett Winery, Wolf Blass and Yalumba are all located in the Barossa Valley.

Perth’s southwest is ideal for those seeking a winter break amidst where the ocean meets the forest.

This is where whale watching, fishing, surfing and water sports can be enjoyed just minutes from gorgeous, towering rainforests, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy some of the most varied travel experiences in Western Australia.

Whether you’re want a cheap and cheerful camping holiday or an action-packed family vacation, there are plenty of options to suit all tastes and temperaments in the southwest — keeping in mind that the cooler winter climate might make it necessary to wear several layers when enjoying the great outdoors!
