Mom tries to kill kids with poisoned apple juice — you won't believe why
Another day, another horrific story of child abuse.
A 29-year-old mother of two wanted to punish the father of her kids, so she did what any sane, rational person would do: crushed up a ton of anti-anxiety pills, dissolved them in apple juice and forced her 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter to drink two big glasses each. Then Krystle El Khatib tried to kill herself by overdosing on the same anti-anxiety pills — benzodiazepine — and Norco, a painkiller.
When her son said he didn’t want to finish the second glass, she threatened to beat him. What a creep.
El Khatib, who lives in the Chicago area, tried to murder her children because she was mad her estranged husband didn't want to be around her (got it) and didn't spend enough time with the kids.
"At least if I go to hell, I've already been there," she texted her ex-husband on Sunday after dosing the entire family. "The kids go to heaven. Peace from all."
Her son woke up the Monday morning vomiting. When he couldn't wake his mother, he texted his father, who got the kids and took them to the hospital.
She told police that she "wanted all three of them to go to sleep and not wake up."
El Khatib's bond has been set at $1.5 million, and the Department of Children and Family Services is investigating.
