5 Ways to make your lips fuller

For fuller lips, you don’t have to resort to injections. Here are several ways you can instantly give your pout more oomph.

Full lips

If you inherited thin lips and don’t want to endure painful, semi-invasive injections to make them fuller, there are a number of ways you can use makeup to give you plumper, more luscious lips. Here are a few tips for a fuller pout.

Wear lip gloss

The shiny, reflective quality of lip gloss offers more of a full lips look than does a matte lipstick, and lighter colours are more expansive than darker shades, as they contrast less with your skin.

Keep a clear lip gloss in your makeup kit

Apply your lip colour (whether it be lipstick, lip balm or gloss), and add a small dab of clear gloss to the centre of your pout. The light will catch this gloss and help to visually expand your lips. Be careful not to apply too much, though, because if you do, it may make your lip colour bleed. In this case, less is more.

Apply your lip liner deftly

Using a lip liner in the exact colour of your lipstick, line your lips just barely outside your actual lip line so you are a smidge onto your skin. Since this can come out looking clownish if you don’t do it right, this method is best left to those of you who are skilled in the makeup department. Once you’ve lined your lips, fill them in with the liner and then apply your lipstick overtop. One downside to this method: Lining your lips can often make them look much harsher than just a simple, softer application of lipstick alone.

Use a plumping product

There are a slew of products on the market to help plump up lips. One of the first on the market and still the most popular is DuWop Lip Venom. This product contains cinnamon and ginger, which help promote blood circulation in your lips (you can even feel a tingling sensation when you apply it). Nowadays many brands, from L’Oreal and Annabelle to Pout, include a lip-plumping product in their collections.

Use a luminous product on your Cupid’s bow

Play up your Cupid’s bow (the spot just above the centre of your upper lip) with a tiny bit of luminous cream or eyeshadow to help the light bounce off this area, creating the illusion of depth.
