Cute and cozy plus-size looks for Thanksgiving

With the holidays in full swing, the invitations to soirees and gatherings have begun to arrive. That means we need a closet full of party-ready threads that leave us feeling comfortable and confident as we walk out the door.

tAs a plus-size woman, I know how exhausting it can be to walk the mall in search of the perfect outfit, so I’ve put together three looks to give you some ideas and alleviate some of the stress.

t Before we get into the looks, be aware that when it comes to shopping for events (or anything, really), it helps to have a plan! When shopping in person, you need to know what you want (while still being flexible), and you should be prepared to try some things on. When ordering online, you should order multiple sizes. Also, while some argue that wearing something formfitting helps you cut back on calories, the reality is that Thanksgiving is a day of thanks and a day of food — so save the formfitting outfits for another time! That said, whether you are looking to make a statement or you just like feeling cute and cozy, here are some great options that will make wonderful additions to your fall wardrobe and have you looking terrific on Turkey Day.

Outfit 1: Casual chic

t Lane Bryant Sweater (sold out)
tCalvin Klein Women’s Bellita Wide Calf Boots (Macy’s, $139)
Style&co Plus Size Coated Skinny Pants (Macy’s, $42)
tJewelry from BaubleBar

t If you are playing hostess with the mostess this holiday season, it’s important that you look put together but wear something practical. You don’t want to look disheveled while welcoming your guests, but a formal gown definitely won’t cut it when you’re cutting the turkey. Opt for something like this gorgeous sweater with skinny jeans or leggings. I love the length of this sweater when paired with bottoms that will give you the room you need to move around and get your party prepared.

Outfit 2: Vintage darling

t Akin to Audrey Dress in Black (ModCloth, $43)
t Glitterings Ring Set, Black Stone and Flower Stackable Rings (Macy’s, $35)
t Nadri Raindrop Chandelier Earrings (Bloomingdale’s, $125)
t Joan & David Cicilee Pump (Nordstrom, $180)
t Kurt Geiger London Britton Ultra Pump (Nordstrom, $385)

t For those who are attending a Thanksgiving feast and who won’t have to worry about working too hard, I recommend a dainty dress like this one. ModCloth has lots of fabulous vintage cuts that you can customize, and they look absolutely adorable. Add sleeves, change lengths and do whatever else you want to make them your own. Pair this dress with some killer heels in a complementary color or shade — or something showstopping like red — and bring this outfit to life! A pop of color with your shoes makes a wonderful statement and adds a little dimension to an all-black look like this one.

t Of course, no outfit is complete without accessories. I love this vintage-inspired look and how this dress can be versatile when worn day to night and to other occasions.

Outfit 3: Daring diva

t House of Harlow 1960 Gypsy Feather Necklace in Gold (Boutique to You, $154)
t Valentino Scalloped Pump (Nordstrom, $895)
t Calvin Klein Plus Size Long-Sleeve Sequin Sweater (Macy’s, $110)
t Jones New York Collection Plus Size Skirt, Ruffled A-Line (Macy’s, $94)
t Lulu Frost Solar Bracelet (J.Crew, $288)
t Nadri Polished Metal Button Stud Earrings (Bloomingdale’s, $40)

t I love making a statement. If you do, too, then this Calvin Klein sweater and these fabulous heels are just right for you. Everyone needs a great holiday sweater they can throw on at a moment’s notice and that can take them anywhere. This combination has just the right amount of sophistication and class without being too formal. I love the trendy accents and bold color choices.
