DIY personalized coasters for Father's Day
Let me guess, you are really confused and going crazy over what to get your dad for Father’s Day? Let’s be honest, fathers are not easy to buy for. Cardigans, ties, wine and books seem to be too boring. But don’t worry, here's a solution — skip these options this year and focus on making something with love, something that will make Father’s Day awesome and fun.
You can't go wrong with these personalized coasters. They are very easy to make, which is why they are just perfect for the upcoming occasion.
So, are you ready to surprise your dad this year?
Follow my tutorial to see how to do it.
- Personalized messages or photos, size 9.5 x 9.5 cm
- Plain ceramic tiles, size 10 x 10 cm (You can pick them up from your local hardware store.)
- Mod Podge glue
- Paint brush
- Felt (optional)
Prepare your messages or photos. You can use items that you already have at home, for example, photos of you and your dad or postcards from holiday vacations, or you can make some graphics with one of the online editing programs.
Print off your messages or cut out the photos that you want to use, trimming the edges to fit the tile size, leaving 0.5 cm of space from each edge. For printing, use photo paper.
Cover one of your ceramic tiles with a thin layer of Mod Podge glue. Carefully apply your message or photo to the tile, and adjust accordingly. Repeat this step for the remaining and tiles.
Once tiles are all dry, apply Mod Podge glue to the tops of the messages or photos. Wait until they are completely dry, and apply the glue two more times.
(Optional) Depending on how sharp your tiles are underneath, you might want to cut out pieces of felt and attach to the backs of the coasters to protect Dad’s furniture from being scratched.
And that’s it! You made personalized coasters, and they are ready to be given to your dad. I bet you can’t wait to see his reaction when he unwraps his gift. Instead of another cardigan, he will find your handmade, personalized gift.
So, are you going to make these? What messages or photos are you going to include?
Happy Father’s Day to fathers everywhere!
