Instead of choosing an LBD, everyone’s go-to for a red carpet event, Julianne Moore opted for a BBD (big black dress). The actress from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay chose a Balenciaga over-sized gown for the premiere of Non-Stop in Paris. She’s in the City of Light, so why’d Julianne go so dark?
The top part of the dress is cut strangely and reminds us of when you’re dressing a paper doll and trying to bend the clothes to fit but they don’t quite match up. The fabric reminds us of felt and the stitching around the bodice looks odd. Plus, the ill-fitting top is boxy in the shoulders and baggy in the waist.
The final verdict? The fitted skirt is fine, but it’s so long that we can’t see the Christian Louboutin shoes that Julianne’s supposedly wearing underneath. We guess we’ll take her word for it, but if you’re gonna wear Loubs, you might as well show them off!
You may know Cobie Smulders from her starring role on How I Met Your Mother, but we think she should be on How I Met Your Tailor instead based on this outfit. The actress wore a black and white menswear-inspired look for the Los Angeles premiere of The Lego Movie.
The blouse is OK, although we think it’s buttoned up too high and that the print resembles a Magic Eye photo that shows pictures when you stare at it long enough. But those white wide-legged pants don’t fit her at all. They’re obviously too big and the pockets are flaring out awkwardly. Just like Julianne, her bottom hemline is also much too long and is completely obscuring her shoes.
The final verdict? Cobie has a great figure but this ensemble does nothing to flatter it. We’d opt for a skinny jean with the blouse to change it up or choose a pair of boyfriend cut pants that actually fit her frame. We like her cute red clutch, though!
