Your most valuable resources are your human resources, and reconnecting to this is what 2014 is all about. It’s easy to forget that clients, customers, co-workers and bosses are people, too. To some degree, everyone’s guilty of objectification — treating people like they’re target audiences, damage that needs to be controlled or powers that be who have to be appeased. Take time this year to get to know the person behind the label. Reaching out to a customer, commiserating with a colleague or inviting your boss to lunch will do a lot to reintroduce that human touch that’s missing from so many of our interactions. Make the special effort and you will see this pay off in profits, support and patronage.
