Beagles are the ultimate rabbit hunters. Compact and energetic, they can suss out their game from the briar patch or chase them in circles so you’ll have a better shot. (It also happens to be only No. 2 or 3 to the bloodhound in terms of quality sniffers.)

Larger, more powerful and more athletic than a Pit Bull, the Dogo Argentino is a natural choice for hunting feral pigs. They look just as intimidating as a Pit Bull and are just a fierce — and just as loyal and friendly. They’re also less dog-aggressive than a Pit.

These babies are fast, loud and nosey — in a good way. They have a great nose. These are all-around good hunting dogs. Used mostly for coon hunting, they can also chase down larger game like deer, small rodents and even chase cougars, bears and coyotes, making them double as excellent protection in the woods.
