Is Jennifer Aniston’s budget beauty trick safe?

Jennifer Aniston might be a multimillionaire, but she loves a good deal! The actress trusts her famous skin to two budget beauty tricks, and we have to know: Are they really good for our skin?

Jennifer Aniston

Attention, DIY divas: Jennifer Aniston has a couple of simple skin care treatments that you can do at home. The bonus? You don’t need to sell a kidney to afford them!

The 44-year-old told Redbook that she prefers to moisturize and tighten her skin with a couple of things you can get for under $10 at the drugstore.

“Put Vaseline on your eyes at night — all over. It helps condition your lashes,” she said. “My mom taught me that, and my girlfriend told me years ago that if you wake up with puffy eyes, you can put Preparation H underneath them. It’s amazing.”

It’s not the first time we’ve heard about this. However, we’ve also heard conflicting reports on whether this is a good idea or not. To get the definitive answer, we asked Debra Jaliman, M.D. — board-certified dermatologist and author of Skin Rules — to give us the lowdown.

“Vaseline does moisturize the lashes,” Dr. Jaliman told SheKnows. “I’ve tried it, but it’s very heavy.”

Her suggestion? Spring for a lash moisturizer that’s more expensive but easier to deal with on your peepers. As for Preparation H? It works, too.

“Preparation H can take the puffiness away as it constricts vessels and stops swelling,” she said.

The one thing Aniston won’t do to her famous face? Wear red lipstick.

“Super bleached blondes — like Gwen Stefani — can get away with it, but it’s tough to pull off with my color,” she told the magazine.

We beg to differ on this one, Jen! It’s all about finding the right shade of red for your skin tone.
