Emmy Rossum’s best beauty tips

The Shameless starlet always looks flawless on her hit Showtime series, but she’s not ashamed to admit that she gets breakouts, too. We caught up with Emmy Rossum to score her beauty must-haves.

Busy actress Emmy Rossum has always been a fan of Origins cosmetics, so she jumped at the chance to team up with them for a good cause, even if it meant sacrificing some sleep. At the Smarty Plants CC SPF 20 Skin Complexion Corrector launch party in NYC, the 27-year-old said she arrived via a red-eye last night and was leaving on another red-eye right after the party to head back to Los Angeles to shoot Shameless.

She first became hooked on the brand for dealing with breakouts. “I’ve always used their spot product to zap zits,” Emmy told SheKnows. “I was a huge recycling nerd and eco-friendly nerd in middle school and I love the fact that Origins has always had an authentic, eco-conscious portion to their brand.”

When it comes to her own beauty routine, Emmy said she’s learned that it all starts with your lifestyle choices and not necessarily with cosmetics. “Lots of napping and water. No cigarettes and minimal drinking,” she recommends for a great complexion.

That being said, she does love a good lip. “I like Dior lipsticks,” she shared. “Clinique has a good spot treatment, too. And I love Oribe hair oils.” But if she could only choose one product to wear, it’d be the Origins Complexion Corrector. “This one, because I want a moisturizer and an SPF and a color all in one,” Emmy explained.

One makeup trick she won’t try again is putting bling on her face. “I once tried to put Swarovski crystals all over my face. That did not turn out well,” she said.

Origins’ new product will benefit charity: water and Emmy says her own inner beauty secret is one that we can all use ourselves: “Smile and laugh more!”
