Make your hairdo happy hour ready in 10 minutes

When you left the house this morning, your hair was looking great. Add eight hours of work and stress and it could probably use a little help. Here, we’ve got four fabulous tips on how to transform your hair from so-so to salon-ready — all in less than 10 minutes flat. You’ll be ready for an evening out in no time.

Woman with ponytail

Try straight and sleek

A straight hairstyle is easy to maintain. But add a full-day’s worth of work and frizzies can suddenly be your worst enemy. Freshen up this style by arming yourself with a travel-size shine spray or serum and a flat iron. These items can easily be stowed in a tote or desk during the day and are just what you’ll need to make your hair look lustrous again.

Make loose waves

Meeting some friends or a date for an after-work dinner? Try adding some loose waves for a sassy and flirty look. You’ll need a curling iron and styling or hair spray to achieve this style. First, start by separating your hair into the sections you want to curl. Spritz hair with some hair spray and wrap each strand around the curling iron instead of clipping it into the barrel. Hold for a few seconds and then release. Finish by running your fingers through the curls to create loose waves and add a bit more spray for all-night hold.

Add volume

Sometimes at the end of a long workday, all your hair needs is a good pick-me-up. To inject some much-needed life into your locks, stash some hairspray, a teasing comb and, if possible, a mini hair dryer into your bag. Backcomb hair at the crown and then spritz with your favorite hairspray, aiming at the roots. Add some extra oomph and quick dry the spray with a blast from your blow dryer. Make sure to smooth hair over the teased portion so you don’t end up with helmet head.

Rock a sleek pony

A low, side ponytail is cute and sassy these days — and it’s one of the easiest looks to style. All you’ll need is a hair tie, shine serum and possibly some hair spray for this look. If you’re hair has gotten wavy throughout the day, you may want to straighten those pieces with a flat iron. Add a dollop’s worth of shine serum and run it through your hair. Try a deep part and secure hair into a low side pony. To control flyaways, use a bit of hairspray.
