“Kid coffee” for grown-up mornings

Let your kids get in on the morning ritual of drinking "coffee." This kid-friendly creation will be a hit around the breakfast table.

Serves 4

Serve this kid-friendly "coffee" from a teapot or carafe to give your kids the real feel for sharing in Mom and Dad's morning routine.For an added treat, serve cream and sugar on the side!


  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ?8 cups milk
  • 1 cinnamon stick (plus more for garnish)


  1. Combine cocoa, sugar and milk in a saucepan, and whisk to combine. Transfer the pan to a burner over medium heat. Heat, stirring frequently to incorporate all of the dry ingredients (the ingredients will combine more easily as the liquid gets warmer), until the milk begins to steam. Add the cinnamon stick, and continue heating to desired serving temperature. Pour into four mugs, and garnish with extra cinnamon sticks.
