Patch Perfect is intended for fixing up those ugly dead spots that appear on your lawn due to too much shade, uneven watering, high foot traffic or pet urine. While you could patch your lawn with regular grass seed, fertilizers and frequent watering, there’s no way you can speed up the process. Grass isn’t the quickest-growing thing around, and the folks at Patch Perfect have come up with a pretty good solution for when you need grass to grow somewhere that it hasn’t in the past.

While the obvious benefit is getting grass to grow in hard-to-grow areas, don’t expect an overnight miracle. It will still take a few weeks for your lawn to really fill in. But everyone I know who used it saw better results than with traditional grass seed, especially with respect to the greenness. The only real downside I can see is that a 1.75 lb. bag of Patch Perfect runs about $19, while a 3 lb. bag of Scotts Quick Fix Mix (which provides quick temporary patching) costs only $5. Even a 7 lb. bag of perennial rye grass only costs about $21. If you have a lot of patches to perfect, it could get expensive.

Grass is all about patience, persistence and pocket money. How much is a green lawn worth to you?
