Every Harry Potter fan knows that the cupboard under the stairs is so much more than the place where the vacuum cleaner lives.

But how many of them actually take the chance to transform the space into something the iconic boy-wizard himself would be proud of?

A Pennsylvania mum-of-two has done just that, spending eight full days and nights creating a wonderful Harry Potter-inspired room paying homage to the cupboard under the stairs where Harry lived in the Dursley's house at 4 Privet Drive.

Courtney Bonnet, a children's librarian, told Buzzfeed that "she wasn't crazy about the rest of the house" when she and her family first viewed it earlier this year, but she was persuaded by her husband to buy it after he agreed to let her turn the space into a Harry Potter-themed room.

And so the process began.

Bonnet used pages from the first Harry Potter instalment as wallpaper, stressing that she only used pages from books that had already been damaged.

A Hogwarts trunk, a Hedwig light-pull and, of course, a pile of books are among the other items of Potter paraphernalia in the snug.

"I just love Harry Potter and books and reading," said Bonnet. "I am pretty crafty and handy around the house so I figured why not? What kid wouldn't want their own secret room?"

"I want my kids to enjoy books and reading and see what an impact books can have on a person’s life," she added. "This series really changed my life."
