- Plain place mat
- Assorted colors of felt (including brown and yellow)
- Fabric paint
- Fabric glue
1. Cut your felt shapes
Cut the turkey body in the shape of an extra-wide bowling pin, then cut 6 feathers from assorted colors of felt. Cut a triangle for the beak.
2. Paint feathers
Using the fabric paint, paint the following words on the feathers: today, this week, this month, this year, lifetime, in the future. These will be dinnertime prompts: What things have happened or what people are you thankful for in each of these time frames? Set aside to dry.
3. Add glue to back of turkey
Add glue to the back of the turkey shape. Only glue down the center of the turkey; the sides should not be glued down. Place the turkey in the bottom right corner of the place mat.
4. Glue on the beak
5. Draw the eyes and wings
Draw the eyes and wings with fabric paint. Write in the prompt at the top of the place mat.
6. Tuck in the feathers
When dry, tuck in the feathers.
Your place mat is complete!
