MTV's Nikki DeLoach dishes on being an actress, wife and mother
When I look back on what I have managed to accomplish through the ups and downs, I can't help but be proud that I am still standing in my joy.
When I was 15 years old, if you would have told me that my life would look like this today I would have chuckled in your face and told you that you had severely underestimated me. I would have corrected you and said that by the time I reach my 30s, I will be one of the youngest and most powerful producers in the entertainment industry with an acting career of equal stature. I'd also have a sprawling estate on the beach that could house all of my friends, family, dogs, cats and possibly a goat or two. Spoiler alert: None of those things have happened.
However, what my younger self, and that girl in my 20s, failed to realize was that I was going to be given so much more. Life was going to hand me failure after failure to teach me humility, gratitude, self-worth and the art of always working to better myself personally and professionally. Life was going to carve out time for me to bond with my family and help us to connect beyond my deepest hopes and wishes. Life was going to deliver me a posse of incredible friends that I would love like family until the end of time. Life was going to bring me my angel of a husband who has been my partner in life for the last 14 years. Life was going to provide me with an assortment of work that fulfilled me in ways I never could have imagined. Finally, life was going to gift me with my greatest achievement... my son, William Hudson Goodell. Life is funny that way, isn't it?

Believe me, I have not let go of those teenage goals nor have I let up on working toward them. However, when I look back on what I have managed to accomplish through the ups and downs, I can't help but be proud that I am still standing in my joy.
I started my career on the Mickey Mouse Club when I was 12 years old. Since then, I have continued to act in film and television. Currently, I can be seen on MTV’s "Awkward." We are now in our fourth season. I pinch myself every day because consistent employment as an actor is not easy to come by. I am a certified acting instructor at Warner Loughlin Studios.
I am not the most powerful producer in the entertainment business, but I am indeed a producer and a writer. Also, I have the great pleasure of being a guest host on various political and pop culture talk shows. Above all else, I am a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, friend, wife and mother. It's been a long journey but honestly, in so many ways, I feel it is just the beginning.
My name is Nikki DeLoach, and I am honored to be joining the panel of SheKnows Experts.
