Throw a royal wedding viewing party
The royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton will take place this Friday, April 29. But just because you can't make it to the other side of the pond to see Kate and William exchange vows doesn't mean you can't still have a fabulous time. Grab your girlfriends, find the house with the biggest television screen and throw your own royal wedding viewing party! Here are 10 tips to help pull it together by Friday.
Send out a quick invitation
Most online invitation services have something that will fit the royal wedding theme. Check out the bridal shower section if you're planning a formal viewing party or the little girl's birthday party section for something a little more lighthearted!
Set your DVR to record
Since the wedding will begin in the middle of the night here in the States, you'll have to record the event in advance for your viewing party. Most major networks will have all-day coverage, but beware: The NFL draft is also happening on Friday, so make sure it doesn't overlap!
Plan an easy menu
If you are planning a morning viewing party, there's nothing easier (and better) than mimosas and croissants. For an evening viewing party, you can still bust out the bubbly, but try pairing it with heartier sandwiches that are cut into tea-party-size portions.
Speaking of tea, get some going
We all know that the Queen loves her tea. Pick up a few varieties, boil a kettle of water and let guests sip on their brew of choice. Make it fun by asking each guest to bring their own pretty teacup!
To dress up or not to dress up
If your crowd is up to it, ask them to come in their best royal wedding attire. Looking for an excuse to wear that bridesmaid dress with the horrible puffy sleeves? This is it. For a toned=down version, ask your guests to wear a fun hat or hairpiece to the party inspired by Kate Middleton's fashionable style.
