Make it a family affair
Dinner with family

Organising a Father’s Day breakfast, lunch, or dinner is so much sweeter when there are some great deals to take advantage of. Most fathers are pretty easy to please, in that they’re satisfied with a tasty plate of food, a cold beer or glass of red wine and the company of their family. These deals in each Australian capital city should help you narrow your restaurant choices down – just remember to save your table before it’s too late!

Captain Cook’s Father’s Day Breakfast Cruise

Try something a little different this year and opt for a breakfast cruise along Sydney Harbour. Dad will be in heaven when he sees the huge hot and cold breakfast buffets, and he’ll never forget the coffee he drank when he sailed past the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Captain Cook has a special offer in place just for September 2, slashing 25 per cent of all adult fares and allowing children under 15 to cruise for free. With a saving of up to 39 per cent, there’s plenty to smile about – and that’s before you get on the MV Sydney 2000.

Blue Fire Grill

With waterfront views and a seriously impressive menu, Blue Fire Grill at Melbourne’s Docklands will give you a meal – and a day – to remember. The restaurant is offering its usual full menu on Father’s Day, which is a nice change from other places who tend to limit their options on special occasions. The top pick on the menu is the “Churrascaria,” which is flame-grilled meat or seafood carved at your table and served up until you physically can’t move! It’s no surprise that it’s a winner with men all over the city. Dad also gets a complimentary schooner on arrival.

Morgan’s Seafood

Overlooking the gorgeous Scarborough Boat Harbour in Brisbane is the cool yet charismatic Morgan’s Seafood restaurant. This waterfront restaurant boasts one of the biggest seafood smorgasbords in Brisbane, featuring only high-quality, fresh ingredients. They’re unleashing dads on this all-you-can-eat buffet for just $59.90, a fraction of the usual cost. If your father is a seafood fan, this is the place to go: the juicy Arctic Crab and the views of the harbour can’t be beaten. As a bonus, every dad who walks into Morgan’s on Father’s Day goes into the draw to win a $500 voucher. Fingers crossed!

Angas Plains Wines

South Australia is home to some of the most award-winning vineyards in the country, with many of them just a stone’s throw from bustling Adelaide. If Dad considers himself to be something of a wine connoisseur, the Anglas Plains Vines is a top choice. Located in the Langhorne Creek wine region just outside the city, the vineyard is a family-run business that is known for its PJ’s Shiraz, among others. On Father’s Day, Angus Plains Vines will be serving up a specially designed three-course lunch at only $35 for adults and a measly $15 for kids under 12. What’s more, Dads will be able to enjoy a free wine tasting as well as a complementary glass of his favourite blend with lunch.

Salt on the Beach

Spend a lazy day by the sea with lunch at Freemantle’s cozy yet chic restaurant, Salt on the Beach. It has great Father’s Day deals throughout the whole day, offering a new breakfast buffet and a special a-la-carte menu for just $35 per adult. Dad will not only enjoy a hugely satisfying meal made from local produce, but he will also get to check out the restaurant’s adjoining Blacksalt Brewery for free. (Here’s a hint: If you haven’t bought a present yet, some of these specialty brews might just hit the spot).

The Saffron

Hobart’s best Indian restaurant, The Saffron, has a few value-for-money options set for Father’s Day. It is offering a north Indian (punjabi) brunch feast, with three set menus to choose from. It may sound odd to choose Indian cuisine in the morning, but somehow it works. The menus include a variety of traditional breakfast breads, special curries, light homemade yoghurt, dessert and chai lattes and coffees. The best (and quite frankly, unbelievable) thing is, dad gets to gorge on all this for just $15. That price, combined with the views of the wharf, will make for a memorable day.

The Peppered Prawn

The dress code may be casual here, but the food is definitely sophisticated. Treat your father to dinner at The Peppered Prawn, the restaurant that is known for its range of wholesome seafood, its Southern Highlands Angus Beef and of course, its extensive wine list. On Father’s Day, the restaurant is offering their well-known Seafood Tasting Tower for 2 for just $55. The platter is loaded up with quality Hervey Bay scallops, oysters, squid, prawns and plenty of tempura-style seafood. If that’s not a bargain, then we don’t know what is!

Sunset Restaurant

Located in SKYCITY at The Gardens, the Sunset Restaurant is an excellent choice for Father’s Day for more reasons than one. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and perched over an infinity pool, this is the perfect place to enjoy lunch with the sun streaming in or alternatively, to catch the famous Darwin sunset. If you decide to spoil Dad with a seafood buffet, he’ll get a Crown Lager on the house. What’s more, once he’s sipped that and you get him another, he’ll get a Crown Lager gift, also on the house – watch his eyes light up at that! The best news? Dad gets all this for just $29.95.
