Woman documents cancer journey by turning her chemo treatments into awesome photo ops

When Broadway actress and mother Karen Walsh found out she had stage 4 colon cancer just after her 40th birthday, she decided to fight it the only way she knew how — creatively. As she began treatment, she started taking selfies to document the experience. However, once she took her diagnosis public, her friends and family wanted to get involved.

“We had such an outpouring of support and love from everyone when we went public about my illness. (Which I highly recommend!) People really wanted to help and, as my social worker at New York Presbyterian said to me, giving people tasks helps them to put some order to the chaos they are experiencing with such unexpected news,” Walsh told SheKnows. So she asked them to dress up and stage amazingly creative and hilarious photos of her treatments with her.
