Just because Oprah’s show is off the air, we’re not going to stop living our best lives and striving to be our best selves, are we? No way, sister. These eight tips will help you live a life of purpose and feel good about being the best possible you.
Cultivating an attitude of gratitude takes practice — but once you start, it’s pretty addictive. You’ll see you’re surrounded by things for which to be grateful: a hug from your child, a hot pot of coffee, the smell after the rain. Up your game by finding gratitude even in difficult situations. Turn “Darn laundry!” into “Thanks, washing machine…”

If you want to be your best self, kindness is a must. You won’t have work too hard at this, and in all honesty, it feels good. Get in the habit of practicing random acts of kindness. Double up your dinner recipe and bring it to an elderly neighbor. Leave a tip at a takeout counter. Compliment the checkout person on her smile.

Be generous with your time and treasure. Find a charitable organization with a mission that appeals to you, and volunteer your time to help out. If your schedule doesn’t allow for much volunteering, choose a reputable organization and donate what you can to help improve the lives of others in need.
Live in the present.
You won’t do yourself or anyone else much good if you’re constantly bemoaning the past or worrying about the future. Focus on what you are doing in the moment. If you’re reading a book to your child, don’t let your mind run wild thinking of all the other things you need to accomplish. Enjoy the closeness and special time together.
Try something new.
Take a cooking class, go scuba diving, or sign up for a 5K. By expanding your interests, you’ll learn what you’re good at and what you enjoy. A person with interests is an interesting person.
Eat well & be well.
To truly be your best, you must give your body the fuel it needs. Toss the junk and fill your kitchen with fresh, whole foods.
Run. Swim. Bike. Walk. Just move. Good health is essential for having the energy, stamina and outlook to tackle life with gusto.
