Cultivating an attitude of gratitude takes practice — but once you start, it’s pretty addictive. If you want to be your best self, kindness is a must. You won’t have work too hard at this, and in all honesty, it feels good. Get in the habit of practicing random acts of kindness. Double up your dinner recipe and bring it to an elderly neighbor. Leave a tip at a takeout counter. Compliment the checkout person on her smile.

Be generous with your time and treasure. Find a charitable organization with a mission that appeals to you, and volunteer your time to help out. If your schedule doesn’t allow for much volunteering, choose a reputable organization and donate what you can to help improve the lives of others in need.
Live in the present.
You won’t do yourself or anyone else much good if you’re constantly bemoaning the past or worrying about the future. Focus on what you are doing in the moment. If you’re reading a book to your child, don’t let your mind run wild thinking of all the other things you need to accomplish. Enjoy the closeness and special time together.
Try something new.
