I’ve been out of the game for awhile. I don’t even remember what a decent kiss feels like, let alone crushing. What is that?
After much deliberation, I’ve come to realize how I know I have a genuine crush… It’s that fleeting feeling that you don’t want to leave you, but it does. Luckily, it comes back. But when it comes back, you try to hold onto it for as long as you can. The only snag: No matter how long you stared at said crush during your last encounter, you (for some unknown reason even the most articulate person can’t explain) are completely incapable of figuring out exactly what he looked like. You can’t recall the features, shapes and sizes that made up his face. All you remember is the feeling.I asked my guy friends to see if they define crushing the same way us girls do. Here’s what they had to say about the warm fuzzies:
Brandon, a 29-year-old single man who admits to looking for love in all the wrong places, says he’s never been quite sure that he’s even had a crush at all. When asked how he knows if he “digs a girl,” he says, “I would drop anything for her … Too bad I haven’t found that special girl yet.”
Alan, a 28-year-old single man who’s looking for a down-to-earth, “emotionally intelligent,” and open-minded girl, refuses to call it “crushing.” “I guess when you just meet someone or know relatively very little about them and find them attractive… you tend to fill in the blanks, turning them into this perfect person,” he says. “You turn them into this figure that’s impossible to live up to.”
When I asked Matt, a 32-year-old single man, how he can tell he has a crush on a girl, he first answered, “It moves.” After a chuckle, the jokester comes clean and says, “I know I have a crush on someone when I am with them and there is nowhere in the world I would rather be… That’s pretty much it.”How do you know you have a crush?
