Mom’s Pregnancy Announcement Goes Viral for All the Right Reasons
A mom in Texas is celebrating the soon-to-be arrival of her two babies in a unique way.
Lauren Walker, a soon-to-be mom in Texas, posted a picture on Facebook that has since gone viral. The image is of two onesies surrounded by the needles and drug bottles she used during her fertility treatments in order to get pregnant.
“I thought we were just never going to be able to have kids. I was in such a horrible state of depression, and confusion, anger and bitterness,” Walker said, according to Yahoo.
In the United States, about 12 percent of women between the ages of 15 and 44 go through infertility according to the CDC. Walker’s Facebook post was her way of extending a hand to those who are going through the highs and lows of infertility the way she did.
“We also know that there are people out there still struggling,” she explains, according to Yahoo. “I remember on my hardest days seeing all the baby announcements it was hard. I would go look at fertility blogs and find someone who was like me having a baby. I wanted to be that reassurance for someone.”
Walker is now 13 weeks pregnant and happily expecting twins. Her pregnancy is the result of various rounds of in vitro fertilization — the process in which a woman’s egg is fertilized by a sperm and then placed back in her uterus. The overall chances of becoming pregnant via IVF are about 40 percent for women younger than 35 years old according to the CDC.
