"The recall was initiated after it was discovered that Salmonella and/or Staphylococcus aureus testing were not completed properly on these specific batch lots," Pharmavite said in a statement. "Pharmavite has identified the cause of the error, is taking the matter very seriously and has implemented corrective actions to rectify the issue."
As they should, because Salmonella and Staph aureus can be deadly. Both can cause serious illness with nausea, cramping, fever and vomiting. Salmonella can even cause death in children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems.
Return affected vitamins to the store for a refund, according to the company, or call Pharmavite at (800) 276-2878 with questions.
