Groom makes a must-watch Lego movie for his bride

It’s become increasingly common for a groom (or bride) to surprise their new spouse with something special on their wedding day. Some choreograph elaborate dances. Others pick a favorite song and change the words to tell their story as a couple. And one incredibly creative groom made a Lego movie for his bride that captured their love story in 73 seconds.

Kevin Ulrich met his fiancée, Celina Frenn, at the place where so many romances bloom, even though they’re not supposed to: the office. He had been working at this media company when Frenn breezed into his life as an intern. Because everyone knows the only thing worse than dating a co-worker is dating an intern, he was reluctant to pursue her, even though he immediately fell for her. It’s almost as bad as a teacher dating his student.

“Her dad was one of our clients, and he and I did not get along very well, so I had a double reason for not wanting to ask her out. But eventually, I came to realize I would never find another girl like her, and the complications were worth the effort,” Ulrich told BuzzFeed.

His Lego movie comes back to that concern over and over again; however, it ultimately makes their relationship story because everyone loves a forbidden romance. And once Ulrich got to know Frenn, he knew he didn’t stand a chance. As he says more than once in the video, “She’s perfect.”

She really is, though. Not only is Frenn adorable, but also she’s obsessed with all things nerd. The two share a love for Harry Potter, the J.R.R. Tolkien series, Doctor Who and Disneyland. Frankly, I don’t know how he was able to resist in the first place.

So without further ado, here’s the not-so-forbidden love between two cute dorks as told by Legos.

After watching that, I think I’m in love with Frenn, too. She’s just so awesome, and her blond hair stays perfectly in place (if only all hair was like a plastic Lego hat). Ulrich is no slouch, either. According to BuzzFeed, he’s actually been making little Lego movies for some time and even helped created a few for the Lego Group’s Hobbit series (can we say dream job?). But his more personal Lego love story was a whole different animal.

It took 70 hours to complete, and he originally wanted to keep it hidden from his fiancée. However, because she rents the office next to his, that proved impossible. She actually asked him if he’d consider making one for their wedding. He told her he was already on it but could reveal no more. At least the finished product would be a surprise. Needless to say, she loved it once she saw it. I mean, who wouldn’t, right?

Aside from the amazing video, the couple says they’re trying to keep the nerd decibel down at their wedding. However, that doesn’t mean “Everything Is Awesome” from The Lego Movie won’t be closing out the night. After all, they have to show respect where it’s due.
