If the love of your life is currently a pug but you have space in your heart for a human companion Pug Me Out might be your perfect dating event.
Pugfest, which was launched by Rob Clowes in memory of his 9-year-old pug Poppy, is the U.K.’s first ever pug-themed festival and it’s been such a success since it launched in 2014 that it’s branching into the dating scene.
Pug Me Out, to be held at Newport’s Crosskeys Hotel on Feb. 13 — just in time to find a date (or a pug) for Valentine’s Day, is suitable for single pug owners and even those who don’t have a pug (but really, really want one). Admission is £15 and includes a chocolate fountain, bubbly on arrival, a buffet and, of course, lots of scrumptious wrinkly-faced pugs to smooch.

Other dates on the Pugfest 2016 tour include Feb. 28 in Bridgend, June 19 in Birmingham and July 17 in Essex and more dates are still to be confirmed along with special VIP evenings. (We’re not sure if the VIPs are the dog owners or the pooches themselves — we hope the latter. Could Nutello the super stylish pug be making a guest appearance?)
For anyone who’s endured embarrassing speed-dating nights, or simply had to put up with being hit on in a bar by someone you’re really not interested in, Pug Me Out could be a far more enjoyable alternative. If you don’t have a pug of your own beg, borrow or steal one. (OK, borrow one.)
That way you’re at least guaranteed someone will walk you home at the end of the night.
