When we have healthy food in the house, we naturally make healthier choices with snacks and meals.
The hard part is keeping your fridge and pantry stocked with items that are necessities and not just snack foods. If you know that you tend to quickly run out of something that you always need, always buy two of that staple. This way, you can plan meals around the healthy necessities and not just reach for the easy fixes.
To help keep you organized, I suggest getting a dry erase board or a chalkboard to keep in your kitchen. Write down the meal and snack options for the week by day and meal, and before you head to the store take a quick peek into your fridge and pantry. Toss anything that has expired or doesn’t appear fresh and do a quick check to make sure the following are always on hand for you. Remember, taking a few minutes before you leave the house to get organized will help you shop faster, and please never leave home without a list, otherwise you might have to make more than one trip!
