If you thought a hot body and a killer set of abs would top the list of traits people look for in a potential partner online, you’d be sorely mistaken. It turns out people looking for their match online are more interested in book smarts, political knowledge and personal growth.
Dating website, eHarmony, recently surveyed more than 100,000 of its members to find out what people are attracted to when it comes to online dating.
According to them, there are certain hobbies and interests that both men and women are more attracted to when it comes to developing that first spark of attraction online.
So what do women look for when it comes to online dating? Well, I can tell you one thing, it’s not dick pics.
The findings reveal women are more interested in politics than pictures of guys’ penises. Write that one down, guys. Seriously, that’s got to stop.
An interest in travel, health, exercise, food and theatre are also considered pretty sexy. Don’t these people sound like a classy bunch?
Men, though, are more interested in things like personal growth, health, food, family and dancing.
“What really matters is genuine compatibility,” says eHarmony dating and relationship expert, Melanie Schilling.
“While it’s nice to have some hobbies in common, it’s important to look beyond this and be true to yourself,” she says. “Take the opportunity to highlight the activities you participate in that link to your highest values, the stuff that really matters to you.”
The study also found that men who include more information in their profiles, including their interests and hobbies, receive 125 per cent more interest than other candidates who don’t.
