A day in the life of Tinseltown’s leading nutritionist

Hollywood celebrities are trading in diets of restriction for a healthy trend that’s ensuring trim physiques and an unmistakable glow. Their secret? Globetrotting nutritionist, Kimberly Snyder, who is called on for her body-slimming know-how to get some of Tinseltown’s biggest names camera ready.

We take a glimpse into the busy world of the girl who glamorised the green smoothie.

She’s the go-to girl of green smoothies—a passionate nutritionist who’s shaping celebrity bodies with good-for-you foods that guarantee a healthy glow and trim tummy. Kimberly Snyder is a regular fixture on Hollywood’s top film sets, working with Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo on The Avengers, and Owen Wilson in Hall Pass; but it was a global health and beauty journey beginning in Sydney that sparked a deep intrigue with all-things nutritious.

Jet-setting between her apartments in New York and Los Angeles, Kimberly is also a wellness entrepreneur, known for her signature drink: The Glowing Green Smoothie. Just last year she released her in-demand book, The Beauty Detox Solution, to an audience hungry for a no-diet diet; all the while catapulting her to television celebrity in her own right, with appearances on Dr Oz, E! and The Today Show among others.

Between red carpet appearances and tending to the nutritional needs of Drew Barrymore, Hilary Duff, Owen Wilson and Fergie, Kimberly is also preparing to open a juice and smoothie bar in body-conscious Los Angeles later this year.

We asked her to share some of her secrets and take SheKnows on a guided tour of her typical day…

When people ask me what my typical day is like, I always laugh,” Kimberly says. “Why? Because I work primarily with celebrities—actors in particular. My schedule not only changes week-to-week, but day-to-day. Anyone who has ever worked with actors knows that their lives are in constant flux. As a celebrity nutritionist, I’m officially part of the circus!

“I have apartments in New York and LA, and also travel to work with clients on movie sets. I’m currently working on a film in Atlanta,” she adds. “This autumn I’m opening the first Glow by Kimberly Snyder smoothie and juice shop in LA, so will be there more, but am also working on a movie back in New York.

“When I’m working exclusively with clients on a film set, my schedule is completely different than when I’m in New York or LA and working with several clients at once… and my schedule is wildly different from city-to-city,” she says. “But what I can share with you is a day in my life lately—a sample day from the last five weeks where I’ve been working with clients here in Atlanta… So let’s get started with our busy day!”

6:45 a.m.: Wake up, brush teeth and put on yoga gear.

7:15 a.m.: Take a yoga class at the spa/studio in my Atlanta hotel.

8:30–9 a.m.: Meditate.

9 a.m.-10 a.m.: Answer pressing emails, text with East Coast clients and plan food schedule for day. Drink 32 ounces of Glowing Green Smoothie.

10:30 a.m.: Hit natural market for food shopping.

11 a.m.: Prepare lunch for clients. I’m working on lots of new recipes at the moment.

12:15 p.m.: Either go to set to bring to clients and eat with them in trailer, or have their assistant pick up. All of the food is tailored for each client, based on their individual health and beauty goals.

12:30 p.m.–3 p.m.: If not on set, have conference calls, do emails and phone interviews. Between the launch of a new website (www.kimberlysnyder.net), an upcoming e-course launch (The Glowing Lean System), my first GLOW by Kimberly Snyder smoothie and juice shop launching in LA in September, final edits of my second book, Beauty Detox Foods, and lots of clients to take care of, there are endless things to work on. Around this time West Coast clients wake up.

3 p.m.–4 p.m.: I usually have a consultation or speak to a client on the phone during this hour.

4 p.m.–5 p.m.: Start preparing dinner, depending on our shooting schedule.

Anywhere from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.: Or later, eat dinner with my clients and hang out for a bit.

Anywhere from 8 p.m.–10 p.m.: Make it back to hotel (on some films I live with my clients). Read for a few hours, and answer more emails. Write blog posts for kimberlysnyder.net or answer reader comments.

12 a.m.-1:30 a.m.: Meditation and bedtime!
