Speed dating: Should you try it?

So you’re single but interested in meeting someone special. The problem is you’re not sure where to meet someone and you’re a bit shy to get into the dating scene. You’ve thought about trying speed dating, but aren’t sure if it’s worth your time or money. Here are some reasons why you might want to try speed dating!

Couple speed dating

1. You meet interesting people in under three hours!

With only a few minutes to spend with each date, there’s not much time to get into deep conversation, but just enough time to get an idea if you’re interested in someone or not. Remember that if the date is awkward, it could just be because you or your date is nervous. If the date is horrible, then you know that you don’t have to spend much time with that person.

It’s a great way to meet a lot of single people in one night and pick out the people that you may be interested in.

2. It’s a safe way to meet someone new

Since you don’t give out any personal information to your dates, it’s a safe way to meet complete strangers in a controlled and social environment. If you indicate on the speed dating card that you’re not interested in a certain person, that person has no way of communicating further with you, after the event is over.

3. It gets you out of your comfort zone

Some people are a bit shy to approach someone, even if they are attracted to him or her, so speed dating almost forces you to open up and talk to people you wouldn’t normally talk to. Even if you aren’t interested in the date on a romantic level, you may meet good connections and even gain some new friends!

4. It boosts confidence!

Since you only have a few minutes to talk to each date, you may find yourself being more chit-chatty than usual. Once you get comfortable and in the middle of the speed dating event, you’ll find that you’re more confident so talking to new people gets easier each time you do it.
