- Cut off 1/2 inch of the non-root side of the onion.
- Place the cut side on the cutting board, and cut it in half.
- Peel off the outer dry layers.
- To dice: Hold the onion half on the root side, and carefully slice across the onion from the cut side to the root side. Then slice across, working your way up to the root end.
