Thanksgiving isn’t lovingly referred to as “Turkey Day” for nothing. It’s not often we get to devour a juicy, glorious, whole-roasted turkey — so we literally count the days until we can. But it’s also safe to say we look forward to all the sides we associate with the holidays. Our mouths water just thinking about mashed potatoes loaded with butter and gravy, sweet potato casserole, piping hot stuffing, cranberry sauce and homemade dinner rolls.
And then there’s the green bean casserole.
Yes, green bean casserole is a time-honored Thanksgiving tradition, and we always put (just a weensy bit) on our plates — but that’s just mostly so whatever relative made it that year doesn’t feel bad. Secretly, we curse the name of whomever decided green bean casserole belongs on the dinner table.
