If 2009 was the year of “there’s an app for that,” 2019 is the year of “there’s a kitchen gadget for that,” and some of those gadgets are wicked expensive. We all know not to waste our money on silly one-hit-wonder kitchen tools — unless it’s an avocado cutter, because avocado hand is real, y’all — but what about the pricy investment pieces? Buying one of those only to find out you don’t need it or never use it can give you a serious case of buyer’s remorse, not to mention dent your pocketbook and take up valuable real estate in your cabinet.

So, which ones do you really need? Which ones aren’t worth it? A lot of that depends on how you cook, but in general, there are tried-and-true tools it’s worth it to drop cash on (and some you should remove from your Amazon wishlist ASAP). Charge ahead to find out which kitchen tools are worth the investment and which ones are a waste of money.
