Homemade Croutons

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 4 (3/4-inch) slices whole grain bread, cut into cubes
  • t

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • t

  • 1 tablespoon vegan margarine
  • t

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • t

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  3. Spread bread cubes in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crispy and lightly browned.

  5. Meanwhile, heat oil and margarine in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. t

  7. Transfer dried cubes to the skillet and toss to coat. Continue to cook, tossing often, until dried cubes become crunchy.
  8. t

  9. Sprinkle in garlic powder and Italian seasoning, tossing to coat, and transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel to cool.
  10. t

  11. Serve warm or let cool completely and store in an airtight container.
