Authentic Mexican Guacamole recipe

Guacamole, the Mexican treat made from avocado that also happens to be vegan is a staple of premium chip dips.  As an avid fan of vegan snack foods I feel pretty ashamed that I haven’t tried to make guacamole from scratch.

I hope to change that with the following recipe.

Ingredients

    t

  • 1/2 small white onion
  • t

  • 2 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • t

  • 1 medium ripe tomato
  • t

  • 3 medium ripe Hass avocados
  • t

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • t

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • t

  • Salt to taste
  • t

  • Fresh cilantro sprigs to garnish

Directions

  1. Using a hand grater, grate the onion, peppers and tomato into a medium-sized bowl, using the coarsest cutting side.
  2. t

  3. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits and scoop out the flesh with a spoon and into the bowl with the onion mixture.
  4. t

  5. Use a large fork to mash the ingredients together until smooth but still lumpy.
  6. t

  7. Add in the cilantro, lime juice and a few pinches of salt, and mix to blend.
  8. t

  9. Garnish with the fresh cilantro sprigs and serve immediately.
