Salmon burgers with homemade tartar sauce is a great meal for a family dinner, and you definitely won’t miss the beef! Salmon burgers with homemade tartar sauce

Yields 4


For the tartar sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons dill pickle, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Few drops of hot sauce (optional)

For the burgers

  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillet, bones removed, finely diced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1-2 green onions, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 3-4 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pecan pieces (you can substitute walnuts)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


For the tartar sauce

  1. In a small bowl, mix together all the ingredients and refrigerate until ready to use.

For the burgers

  1. Dice the salmon into pieces that are about one-quarter-inch in size, add to a medium-sized bowl.
  2. In a small bowl, add the egg and beat it.
  3. To the salmon, carefully add the panko breadcrumbs, onion, parsley, pecans, salt and pepper, and the egg.
  4. Mix together well, but do not overmix the ingredients.
  5. Have a baking pan ready. Form the salmon mixture into patties that are about one-inch thick. Place them on the baking sheet and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  6. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully add the patties and cook them for about three minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through.
  7. Serve on burger buns with the tartar sauce and veggie toppings of choice.
