Fried chicken? Clinton, Iowa?
Turns out that Flavor Flav -- real name William Drayton -- is opening a chain of fried chicken restaurants and the first restaurant is opening this week in the small Iowa city.
The restaurant -- aptly named Flav's Fried Chicken -- is the brainchild of Flav and a business partner.
"[Flav's Fried Chicken] is located in an old Long John Silver's building and is covered with spray-painted photos of Flav," area resident Melissa Strutz told SheKnows.
Flavor Flav: Chef?
It turns out that Flavor Flav is a talented chef.
"I went to Albertson (Culinary Academy of Long Island) and got a culinary degree back in like 1978. (It) was a program funded by the government for high school students who wanted that extracurricular," Flav told the Quad City Times.
"I got my cooking degree and I was the head cook for the Nassau County Courthouse in Long Island, also Uniondale High School and I ran some restaurants. ... Also, my family used to have a diner when I was young called the Soul Diner in Greenport (Long Island). I used to watch my mom and my sisters and them cook. I just started mimicking."
Flav went on to say that he sees this as an opportunity to grow into something huge.
"I always said to myself that this is going to turn into a major franchise like Kentucky Fried Chicken," he said.
But one question remains: why Clinton, Iowa?
