Cheesy Olive Eyeballs
Makes 12 servings
- 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 ounces stuffed green olives
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Combine cheese and butter in a food processor or blender and pulse until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine the salt, paprika and flour. Gradually add the flour mixture to the cheese mixture while pulsing and blend until combined.
- Take about 1 teaspoon of the cheese mixture and shape it around the olives with the olive opening facing outward to create an eyeball. Arrange olives on a prepared baking sheet.
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes, or until cheese has set.
Blood Dip with Severed Fingers
Makes 6 to 8 servings
- 8 medium beets, cooked, peeled, and coarsely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame paste
- 3 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, minced
- 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 12 mini hot dogs
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into small triangles
- Combine the beets, garlic, olive oil and sesame paste in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Spoon the mixture into a bowl and stir in basil, vinegar, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
- Arrange the dough on a flat surface and separate it into triangles. Place a hot dog on one end of each triangle and roll the dough to cover it, leaving one edge open and the other side sealed to look like a finger. Arrange hot dogs on a baking sheet and bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until the dough is flaky.
- Remove the hot dogs from the oven and place a small amount of ketchup and a pepper on the end of each hot dog to make a fingernail. Serve the fingers with dip.

- 2 ounces chocolate morsels
- 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup plus 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2-2/3 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 5 tablespoons milk
- 2 drops black food coloring
- Red hot candies
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Meanwhile, combine the flour with baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, beat 1/4 cup butter with sugar then beat in egg, melted chocolate, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until a dough has formed.
- Form dough into 12 round spider bodies, then shape 12 round heads and 8 legs for each spider. Carefully place spiders on an aluminum foil-covered baking sheet and bake 6 to 8 minutes, or until cooked through.
- While spiders are baking, beat confectioners’ sugar with cocoa powder, milk, 6 tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla until smooth. Stir in food coloring, adding more if needed to make the color darker.
- When the spiders have cooled, carefully frost each one and decorate them using the red hot candies as eyes.
