Though we’d all love to take a luxurious vacation or go on a shopping spree, it’s just not feasible for most of us. However, you can celebrate your accomplishments and enjoy your life a little more by taking time out for small indulgences. Choose indulgences that you can feel good about — ones that don’t cost a lot of money but are truly enjoyable and rewarding.
Get a pedicure
If you don’t have the money or the time to spend all day at the spa, do the next best thing — get a pedicure. You can normally get a pedicure for under $15. Tip a couple extra bucks for the foot massage. This small indulgence is a terrific way to feel pampered and pretty, while getting your feet ready for sandal season.
Take the afternoon off
Stressed out at work? If you can’t go on vacation, it doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a little break. Arrange with your boss to take an afternoon off this week to enjoy time to just for yourself. Read a book, go window shopping or just spending the afternoon lounging in bed watching TV. Whatever you do, make it all about YOU. Everyone needs a little “me time” every once in a while.
Have a snack
Watching your weight? Reward yourself for meeting your goals by having a delicious snack. It’s okay to indulge every once in a while as long as you don’t over do it. Have a bite or two of your favorite dessert, or eat a low-calorie brownie or cookies instead.
Spend on yourself
The economy is rough right now, but it doesn’t mean you can’t splurge on something for yourself every now and again. Put aside $10 or $20 a week and at the end of the month, buy yourself a new pair of shoes or a cute top. If you can save for a few months, the money will really add up to something nice.
Explore your hometown
Though you might be dreaming of a long vacation in an exotic locale, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy everything your hometown has to offer. There are probably many attractions and destinations in and around your city that you have never experienced. From museums to historical landmarks and festivals to expos, you can enjoy wonderful things right in your own town without spending a bundle.
Give back while you shop
When you are shopping, look for retailers that give back a portion of their proceeds to charity. Not only will you be able to buy some terrific items for yourself and your family, you will also be doing your part to help out the less fortunate or causes you believe in. The Giving Store, Give and Shop and a multitude of other websites allow you to donate while you shop.
