The secret’s in the side: Scene-stealing pork side dishes are a holiday hit

Successful home cooks know the secret is in the side when it comes to holiday entertaining. Seasonal side dishes steal the show at festive celebrations, and for many partygoers, a plate heaped high with stuffing or bacon-studded baked potatoes can be the best part of a holiday meal.

  • Sensational stuffing: One of the easiest ways to enliven simple stuffing is to sprinkle in cooked sausage, bacon or ham. Great stuffing combinations include cornbread, ham and sage; sausage, mushroom and parsley; and bacon, apple and walnut.
