I usually think of fall and early winter as the holiday season, but I definitely wouldn't mind it starting a little earlier each year. And this year, Taco Bell is making my wish come true thanks to their full-blown National Taco Day celebration on Oct. 4.
First off, they've released a holiday special, "Glen and The Magic Taco," that tells the origin story of National Taco Day. Sounds heartwarming! You can watch it while eating from your National Taco Day Gift Set, available at Taco Bell stores on Oct. 4, which consist of a "gift wrapped" Nacho Cheese, Cool Ranch, and Fiery Doritos Locos Tacos and a classic crunchy taco, all for just $5. They come in special National Taco Day Wrapping, so each bite feels a little more festive than it otherwise would.
For the high rollers among us, on Oct. 4, there's a special five-course meal at the Taco Bell Test Kitchen in New York City, where Doritos Locos Tacos and the Quesalupa were all invented. Reservations will be available on OpenTable.
Here's hoping that going all out to celebrate National Taco Day catches on. Thanksgiving is currently the big food holiday of the year, but I think we can all agree that a crunchy Doritos Locos Taco is a thousand times better than dried-out turkey breast ever could be.
