Especially now that we know how to make it right at home, no pizza oven needed. Joy!
Professional chef Gemma Stafford, of Gemma’s Bigger Bolder Baking, came up with the genius idea of pizza in a cup for those of us who don’t have hours to prepare and roll out dough or don’t want to head out to the local pizza parlour for a takeaway. In her video 5 Microwave Mug Meals Stafford shows us the future of baking — and it’s awesome.
Behold the mug pizza. It’s just a combination of flour, baking powder, baking soda and a pinch of salt poured into the mug. Stafford then mixes them all together before adding milk and olive oil — pizza base done.
She then spoons sauce over the base and, while you can add any toppings you like, Stafford adds cheese, dried herbs and mini pepperoni. After popping it in the microwave Stafford shares the end result and it’s mouthwatering.
We will be trying this. In fact we’ll probably be trying all of her mug recipes (including a chocolate fudge brownie, mac and cheese, a peanut butter and banana muffin and microwavable granola) — and we most certainly will not be the only ones, as evidenced by the comments on the video.
“Gah Gemma I’m healthy eating at the moment BUT now I need to make a pizza in a MUG!!! SO delicious looking! :),” Donal Skehan wrote.
“That pizza looks so yummy,” loves peaches shared.
And Maryam Rashika shared how her pizza in a mug worked out.
She wrote, “I tried the Mac and cheese one and it was DELICIOUS! I also tried the Pizza one and it was AMAZING! My brother kept on asking me to make the Pizza one.”
Other comments include, “I am SO hungry now, “This is a life saviour [sic] for work lunches and they are healthier than all the ready made crap with chemicals in it,” and “oh my god !!! These recipes are incredible .Thak [sic] you very much Gemma. Each recipe you make inspires me every time. I love you.”
