I don’t know about you, but I feel like 2016 has hit the ground running. I took the holidays off to relax with my kids. We played games, went for hikes, hit the slopes and watched a few cute movies. (Speaking of movies, raise your hand if you’ve seen Star Wars more than once! Twice?)
I’m glad I was able to check out for a few weeks, because like you, I’m already back at it. I’m so excited for the premiere of Murder She Baked: a Peach Cobbler Mystery tonight (January 10 at 9 p.m. EST on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries). The entire cast is planning to join me in a tweetalong for tonight’s premiere, so we’re definitely going to be having fun with the viewers. I hope you join the chat with us as you watch.
My other big project has been a kitchen cleanse. The leftover desserts are gone, and only healthy foods are back. I’ll admit that we got a little carried away during the holidays—a lot of eating out, and not enough stocking our fridge with the best options. As my kids went back to school, it was the perfect time to grocery-shop for all the healthy elements that go into breakfast before school and lunches during school.
While I was at it, I bought a ton of fresh veggies and fruits for the whole family. I’m looking forward to home-cooked meals again, and I love creating new recipes to try with my family.Tonight, I’m making a baked fish and some quinoa with green beans for dinner. We’ve been inhaling the delicious tangerines in season at the market right now, and of course the bowl of fresh blueberries is front and center. Such perfect treats!
Join me on social media as I work to find new January recipes and would love to try yours! I’m also on the hunt for new ideas for what to send the kids to school with for lunch. (I gotta be honest, Ben groans every time I mention a turkey sandwich. Any ideas?)
Hope to see you on Twitter tonight—and as you watch, let me know if you’re Team Mike or Team Norman!
